     先行詞(修飾される名詞)に次の条件が加わると、

     関係代名詞には that が使われます。



１. 形容詞の最上級、the first 、the last 、the same 、the only など
         「ただひとつの」系の語が先行詞を修飾しているとき。


         This is the best movie that I've ever seen.
                ( これは今までに見た映画の中でいちばんよい映画です。)

         Man is the only animal that can use fire.
                  ( 人間は火が使える唯一の動物だ。)

         What is the first novel that was written in Japanese?
                  ( 日本語で書かれた最初の小説は何ですか。)



２. all 、every 、any 、no など
         「すべて」系の語が、先行詞を修飾しているとき。


         You can read any book that interests you.
                  ( 君の興味をひく本なら何でも読んでいいよ。)

         Please show me all the books that you have.
                     ( あなたが持っている本を全部見せて。)



３. 先行詞が < 人 + 人以外 > や、...thing形 のとき、疑問詞 who の直後。


         We looked for the boy and his bicycle that had disappeared.
                    ( 私達は姿を消した少年と彼の自転車を探した。)

         He told me everything that he knew about it.
            ( 彼はそれについて知っていることを何でも教えてくれた。)

         Who that knows her doesn't love her?
              ( 彼女を知っている誰が、彼女を愛さないだろうか。)


　

:: 前置詞と関係代名詞


      前置詞の目的語が関係代名詞になる場合があります。
      その場合の前置詞の位置には
      < 関係代名詞 ... 前置詞 > と< 前置詞 + 関係代名詞 ... >
      の２通りがあります。
  
       The girl lives here.  +   I told you about her.
                            ↓
         The girl [ I told you about her ] lives here.
                            ↓

┗		 The girl whom I told you about lives here.
　　( 私が君に話した女の子はここに住んでいる。)
The girl about whom I told you lives here.
